We adopted this sweet little plott hound / collie mix the summer our first family dog, JD, passed away. The emptiness that the absence of his huge presence left in our home (and our hearts) was a bit much for me so we drove the kids out to the Humane Society of Fairfax County to just “take a look,” and this little gal was there waiting for us. I was sad that JD never got to meet our youngest son who arrived many months after he passed – so this was a special little moment for the two of our newest family members to honor JD’s memory.
